Are you part of the promise or part of the problem?

“But, beloved, even though we speak to you in this way, we are convinced of better things concerning you, and of things that accompany salvation. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown for His name in ministering to [the needs of] the saints (God’s people), as you do. And we desire for each one of you to show the same diligence [all the way through] so as to realize and enjoy the full assurance of hope until the end, so that you will not be [spiritually] sluggish, but [will instead be] imitators of those who through faith [lean on God with absolute trust and confidence in Him and in His power] and by patient endurance [even when suffering] are [now] inheriting the promises.”

True Believers in Christ do not bend to the powers of darkness that stand before us. It is true that our circumstances are sometimes very difficult and seemingly never ending. But followers of Christ understand that we do not fight for worldly comfort and pleasures but instead fight for eternal promise and the hope that we have in the coming Messiah who will soon come to bring us eternal light and final rest. We persevere only through the conviction of that day and trusting in our belief in our God who is good, sovereign and who loves us.

If we succumb to our present circumstances as dark, as bleak and as never ending as they seem to be, then evil wins. We must stand in our convictions seeing beyond our realities into the truth of our King, who died so that we may have life and who sent us the Holy Spirit to help us in our fight.

We can choose to sit in our discomfort defeated and discouraged or we can choose to be hopeful, believing in our God who eventually will lead us into eternal good and who is working all of this out for our greatest good even though today it may appear that nothing good could come out of our present circumstances.

It is through these tests our true faith is revealed to our King Jesus and to our Father God.

Who is it you are revealing yourself to be? Are you an imitator of hope or are you an imitator of hopelessness? Do you believe in God’s promises or are you buried instead in your circumstance?

True Believers carry hope and promise. What are you carrying?
