There are many American waking up this morning finding relief and a renewed hope from the presidential election results and many other’s waking up with fear and discontentment. As much as I am one of the ones feeling hope today, I also empathize with the latter, as it was only eight years ago I too had those discontent feelings after waking up and finding the election went to President Obama.
I believe in God the Father, the Creater of heaven and earth and in Jesus Christ his only son. I believe in Him with all of my heart, my soul and my mind and my strength, even more than ever today. Because the battles of the past 8 years with Obama as the leader, the past 18 months of the election process, and the election battle last night has caused me to press in to my Lord more then ever.
8 years ago, I was discouraged and afraid for myself, my family and my country. I was afraid because the country seemed to be drifting further and further away from values that were rooted in those who founded our country. Men and women who gave their lives for freedom and to dedicate this country to God. I could see that although God loves America and its people, that if we continued to turn away from him, he would have no choice but to allow the consequences of our choices pave a pathway away from his grace and protection and into darkness. Living in darkness would be miserable, and I feared this potential demise.
Thank the Lord that I wasn’t alone. There were many, many citizens like me who felt that same way, but who also believed in God’s promises. They believed in Gods word and stood on it. They took this scripture from 2 Chronicles 7:14 which said ” 14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” and stood upon it. They reminded each other of Gods goodness and love and inspired each other to join together in unity. The stood convicted that if we had enough of us joining together, believing in Gods goodness, praying for his mercy, and reflecting his love to others that God would hear the prayers and change the course of this land.
It has been a very long 8 years and the election battle was tough. Many, many times it seemed as if the battle was not going to end in our favor but we did not give up. Instead, we joined together believing, trusting and praying to a God that we know loves this country and his people. In the final 3 days, many, many people gave up food and water and prayed without ceasing in dedication to the recovery of this land. We did not know how God would answer, but we did know that prayer and unity and believing just might change the course of his decision and I believe it did.
Today, there is a new life in this country. There is a new passion rising up. The poor and the weak and the forgotten have spoken and said, we want a new leader and we want a new direction. They have the new leader in place. The old establishment has been broken
