Have you ever noticed that we rarely see pictures or video’s of eagles flapping there wings frantically or out of control? Have you ever noticed that even though Eagles depend upon the rare occasion of a fish swimming towards the top of the water or the small animal coming out into the open field for their food, we don’t ever see them flying back and forth frantically pressing in for that next opportunity? Have you ever noticed that we rarely see an Eagle that doesn’t look healthy and well fed? Have you ever noticed that in the life threatening winds of a storm they don’t fly in to a hiding place, but instead take the threatening winds to greater heights and soar above the storm? Eagles don’t have investments, bank accounts, food pantries, refrigerators, or clothes closets. Eagles live totally under the provision provided for by God and fly face first into the storms and seem totally at peace with it, in fact, they seem to strive in it.
Let me share a bible verse, parts of which I’m sure many of you have heard a thousand times (Isaiah 40:28-31), pay special attention to verse 31:
28Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The LORD is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
Many of us go to church every week to hear Gods word, and we read his word, but do we believe it? Do we believe what He says? If so, then why do we spend our time rushing to our next task, planning our lives out weeks at a time, worrying about our provision and/or how we will survive the threatening storm? The bible says “they who WAIT for the Lord shall renew their strength and mount up with wings like eagles…”
I’m tired of striving, pressing, and planning. I would much rather live with energy and peace, have my provision provided to me, soar above the storm into the beautiful views and move without effort instead of pressing into a life that I’m not even sure is healthy for me or even making any impact, wouldn’t you?
Let’s do something really, really crazy. Let’s do something that is totally counter culture. Instead of fretting and worrying, let’s just wait. Let’s not press, plan or hurry, let’s just wait. Let’s just pray and trust in God and then wait for him to give us everything we need. He says he will, do you believe him? Are you willing to dare try? I invite you to try waiting with me. Let’s see what God does and then share our stories. I’m in, are you?
